The purpose of Meros do Brasil Institute is to provide support for the sustainable use and conservation of nature, through the following actions:

• Preparation, development, implementation, Project supervision, studies, research that subsidizes the strategies and actions for conservation and preservation of the natural/historical/cultural/environmental/social heritage and for the integration of human beings with the nature, so that better life quality may be established.
• Development and encouragement of activities that promote marine and coastal ecosystems protection.
• Development of social-environmental actions aiming nature conservation and the expression of human culture.
• Supporting campaigns and actions adjusted to the objectives of this Organization.
• Providing assistance and/or consultancy to individuals and legal entities interested in developing or supporting activities related to the objectives of this organization.
• Structure, implement and manage databases that contain social-environmental information.
• Defend the natural/historical/cultural/social/environmental heritage whenever necessary to pursue the values and objectives of the IMB.
